Show of hands, who was surprised to hear today that Kerry Washington got married last month?

Considering that word had just squeaked out that she was even dating anybody seriously, we're going to guess that pretty much everyone not related to the Scandal star and her new husband, NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, was not expecting such a juicy plot twist!

So though helicopters will continue to fly over many a set of celebrity nuptials, there are some cases in which the stars have been able to pull off the ole bait-and-marry without anyone catching on.

Kate Winslet & Ned Rocknroll: The British beauty, who's now pregnant with her third child, totally caught us off guard when she walked down the aisle for a third time. Or should we say tip-toed?! Winslet and Richard Branson's nephew swapped vows sometime last December in front of her kids and "a very few friends and family," her rep confirmed what may have been weeks later.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds: Um, did anyone even realize these two were engaged?! The Gossip Girl star and Scarlett Johansson's ex-hubby said "I do" in September 2012 in Mount Pleasant, S.C. Although Martha Stewart Weddings helped to plan and cover the top-secret nuptials, not a peep about Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds' classy Southern wedding was leaked before the ceremony.

Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig: In June 2011, the Dream House costars tied the knot in New York. Only four other people were in attendance: Rachel's son, Daniel's daughter and two close friends of the couple. Lesson learned? Keep it small if you want to keep things under wraps!

Evan Rachel Wood and Jamie Bell: These two were trying on wedding bands ages ago, but when they actually made their union official in October 2012, it was certainly a covert operation. Marilyn Mansons ex wed her Adventures of Tintin beau in a small ceremony in California. Other than intel that the bride wore a Carolina Herrera gown, the Wood-Bell nuptials remained a pretty private affair.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon: After dating for only six weeks, the American Idol judge quietly wed her 10-years-younger man in the Bahamas in April 2008. Since then, this power couple has renewed their vows several times and become parents to Dem Babies, Moroccan and Monroe.

Rosie O'Donnell and Michelle Rounds: These lovebirds got married in a private ceremony in New York on June 9. They didn't share their good news, however, until August 2012, a week after Rosie announced she suffered a frightening heart attack and Michelle was diagnosed with desmoid tumors, a life-threatening disease. Rosie posted on her blog that the twosome were the only ones present at their wedding, but wanted to have the "wedding of [our] dreams surrounded by those we cherish" when they were both well enough to do so.
