Kate Upton to Attend Formal? Nope. Challenge to Model Proves to Be a Fake
File this under too-good-to-be-true.
A Twitter exchange supposedly between a young man asking Kate Upton to a formal has proven to be a fake.
However, when News managed to get a hold of the tweeter, he admitted it was merely something he made up. The guy said he did it as a small joke to get Upton's attention. He said, at one point, it got 700 retweets in 9 seconds.
Of course, a very similar, but real, proposition was made to Upton back in March by 17-year-old Jake Davidson, who posted a video on YouTube asking Upton to his prom.
"How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule," Upton tweeted the young man at the time.
Naturally, he quickly wrote back."You truly are incredible," replied Davidson. "Just responding made my year, thanks so much. P.S. Hope your schedule is free!"
Later, while discussing his efforts during an apperaance on Today, Upton herself actually called in.
"This just got so much better now that you're on the phone," Davidson told Upton, who replied: "You seem like so much fun and if everything works out, I'd love to go with you. I know we'd have a blast."
Ultimately, though, he didn't nab Upton, but Davidson did land model Nina Agdel, who was more than happy to accompany the student to prom.
"Night of my dreams!" Davidson tweeted after the big shindig in May. "@NinaAgdal you are the best!"
To which the 21-year-old Danish beauty wrote, "Had such a great prom night. Thank you jakedavidson23 for being an awesome date!"
And that's no lie.
