Happy Canada Day! Justin Bieber, Ryan Gosling and More Celebs From Up North!

Happy Canada Day, everyone!

Today is a special day for the many celebrities who hail from up north. July 1 is Canada's holiday commemorating the anniversary of becoming a united country (formerly called Dominion Day) and dates back to the British North American Act of 1867 which united three colonies into a single country called Canada.

In honor of all things Canada (Mounties, maple leaves and hockey, oh my!), we thought we'd take a look at some of our favorite Canuck stars who called our northern neighbor home before making it big in Hollywood.

Take Justin Bieber for instance! The 19-year-old pop star grew up in the Ontarion neighborhood of Stratford. The Biebs tweeted his guitarist (and fellow Canadian) Dan Kanter late last night, "@dankanter yep. Happy Canada Day weekend. #proudcanadian." And Bieber's pal Carly Rae Jepsen shared a photo of her working today with the caption, "Interview city~ @CanadaDayCap."

Meanwhile, Canadian singer Avril Lavigne is celebrating Canada day in a very special way: She's getting married to Chad Kroeger in an elaborate three-day wedding celebration which started Saturday night in the South of France! Lavigne and Kroeger, who got engaged in August 2012, will officially walk down the aisle and tie the knot tonight at an undisclosed location that's so secret, not even the wedding guests, including celebs like former The X Factor judge L.A. Reid, know where they're going.

"Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians!" stylist and Bravo reality show star Brad Goreski tweeted this morning, while 90210 cutie Jessica Lowndes shared, "Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians!!! Xo."
