From barbecues to flag-inspired fashions, everyone toasts the Fourth of July in their own way. But celebrating the United States can also be as simple as creating a patriotic mani.
So, News Alicia Quarles got tips from celeb manicurist Dawn Sterling (clients include Alicia Keys and Rihanna) on how to do just that.
After painting eight of Alicia's fingertips with a white lacquer, Dawn then created an American flag accent nail on each pinkie.
First she applied a red base coat and added a small blue square. Next, she layered just a few stars and stripes with a small dotter. "You can also use a toothpick," she suggests.
Of course, what would Independence Day be without fireworks? Dawn creates mini colorful splatter using a ruffled brush and a mix of red and blue polish. Be sure to add a layer of top coat—and voilà, the perfect Independence Day manicure.
